The NUS Research Department provides professional policy research and analysis for NUS student representatives and keeps affiliated student organisations informed of policy that impacts the lives of students.
Many of the core decisions that impact on student life, like fees, campus experiences, support services, and criteria for financial support are made on a government level. Since 1987 NUS has been the principle voice bringing student perspectives to government decision-making. NUS participates in parliamentary committee inquiries, ministerial and departmental forums and working parties. Over the years NUS’ research has been pivotal in many important reforms, winning concessions that benefit students and graduates.
The Research Department prepares NUS’ submissions and higher education reports and surveys. We also produce regular higher education briefing papers for campus student representatives, activists and other interested students.
