Education Conference 2019
1-4 July 2019
University of Technology Sydney (15 Broadway, Ultimo NSW 2007)
It’s that time of year again! NUS’s Education Conference (EdCon) is approaching, and will be held at the University of Technology Sydney.
Universities and TAFEs have been under attack from the Liberals for the last 6 years, with funding insecurity leading to a corporate approach to education. Study isn’t the only thing students are concerned about, though: the political climate at home and internationally is fraught. With unemployment and workplace exploitation rife, the rise of the far right, and a climate crisis bearing down on us, students are feeling more pressure - and responsibility - than ever to act.
In the wake of the Federal Election, NUS’s Education Conference (EdCon) is an opportunity for students and young people to learn from activists, politicians, education professionals, and each other about the issues facing students today and into the future. Workshops, panels, and plenaries will help attendees gain a better understanding of what they can do to create change.
